China Fire Protection Association
Recently, the China Fire Protection Association officially issued Announcement No. 17 of 2026, approving the release of the group standard “Technical Code for Perfluorohexanone Fire‑Extinguishing Systems” (Standard Number: T/CFPA 054-2026). This standard will come into effect on June 1, 2026, providing a unified technical basis and normative guidance for the design, construction, acceptance, and operation‑and‑maintenance management of perfluorohexanone fire‑extinguishing systems in China.
Background and Significance of Standard Development
This standard was jointly developed by multiple organizations, including the People’s Police University of China, the University of Science and Technology of China, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), the Shanghai Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Management, and Guangzhou Xinlin Fire Equipment Co., Ltd., in accordance with the project approval notice No. 7 [2023] issued by the China Fire Protection Association. The drafting team rigorously adhered to the national fire‑protection policy of “prevention first, combining prevention with extinguishment,” and, on the basis of a comprehensive review of China’s research achievements and engineering experience in perfluorohexanone fire‑extinguishing systems, extensively solicited input from stakeholders across design, construction, manufacturing, research, education, and fire‑supervision sectors. The final version was approved after thorough review.
Perfluorohexanone, an environmentally friendly and highly efficient clean‑gas fire suppressant, is primarily used in battery energy storage systems and offers significant advantages in fire protection for specialized facilities such as precision electronic equipment rooms, data centers, and archives. The promulgation and implementation of this standard will further standardize the technical application of perfluorohexanone fire suppression systems, enhance their safety and reliability, and advance China’s clean‑fire‑suppression technologies toward greater environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
Participating Organizations and Core Content
Notably, Guangzhou Xinlin Fire Equipment Co., Ltd., as one of the participating drafting units, was deeply involved in the development of this standard and contributed its professional expertise to refining its technical content.
This standard is divided into 7 chapters and 7 appendices, with its core content covering:
General Provisions, Terms, and Symbols
Technical Requirements for System Components
System Design Specification
Construction and Acceptance Procedures
Maintenance and Management Regulations
The publication of this standard will effectively fill the gap in domestic technical specifications for perfluorohexanone fire‑extinguishing systems, providing clear operational guidance for engineering practice.
Industry Impact and Outlook
The release of the “Technical Code for Perfluorohexanone Fire‑Extinguishing Systems” represents an important step taken by the China Fire Protection Association to standardize industry‑driven group standards and to support the high‑quality development of the fire‑protection sector. With the implementation of this standard, the overall technical level of perfluorohexanone fire‑extinguishing systems in China will be further enhanced, ensuring fire safety in critical facilities while providing robust normative support for technological innovation and market expansion among relevant enterprises.
