Overview of Perfluorohexanone Fire Extinguishing Agent
The new clean-gas fire suppressant, perfluorohexanone (FK‑5‑1‑12), also known as 1230, has the molecular formula C6F12O and a relative molecular mass of 316.04. At room temperature, it is a clear, colorless, odorless liquid that readily vaporizes.
Perfluorohexanone gas fire suppressant contains no bromine or chlorine; after extinguishing a fire, it does not deplete the ozone layer, and its ozone depletion potential is zero.
More importantly, unlike hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) fire suppressants, perfluorohexanone has an extremely low global warming potential (GWP = 1), comparable to that of carbon dioxide. Furthermore, its atmospheric lifetime is very short—only 3 to 5 days—thereby fundamentally addressing the environmental pollution issues associated with halon and HFC-based fire suppressants.
Due to its environmental friendliness, safety for personnel, non-conductivity, absence of post‑extinguishing residues, and ability to protect equipment without causing damage, coupled with its excellent fire‑suppression performance, perfluorohexanone is a truly green and environmentally friendly extinguishing agent, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Fire-extinguishing properties of perfluorohexanone
1. Environmental protection:
Does not deplete the atmospheric ozone layer (ODP = 0) and has a low global warming potential (GWP = 1).
2. Efficient fire suppression:
The design concentration of perfluorohexanone for fire suppression is approximately 4% to 6%, offering high extinguishing efficiency. Perfluorohexanone delivers rapid fire suppression; like heptafluoropropane, its discharge time does not exceed 10 seconds, which is particularly valuable when protecting assets that require urgent rescue and preservation.
3. Non-corrosive and excellent insulation:
Perfluorohexanone exhibits excellent insulating properties and has minimal impact on electronic equipment, making it well suited for precision electronic devices.
4. Clean and free of stains:
Perfluorohexanone leaves no residue upon extinguishing, is clean and stain‑free, and in previous experiments, immersing cultural relics and calligraphy in a perfluorohexanone solution did not result in any adverse effects.
5. Safety:
The design extinguishing concentration of perfluorohexanone is approximately 4% to 6%, with a no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) of 10%, indicating a high safety profile.
Fire suppression mechanism of perfluorohexanone
The heat of vaporization of perfluorohexanone is one‑twenty‑fifth that of water, while its vapor pressure is twenty‑five times higher. These properties enable it to readily vaporize and exist in the gaseous phase, with its fire‑extinguishing effect primarily relying on endothermic cooling. It can effectively suppress Class A, B, C, and E fires. The principle behind its endothermic extinguishing lies in the fact that perfluorohexanone forms a gas mixture with air, which has a greater heat‑storage capacity than air itself; consequently, during operation, it can remove significantly more heat.
Applications of perfluorohexanone
Overview of Cabinet-Type Perfluorohexanone Fire Suppression Systems
The cabinet-type perfluorohexanone fire suppression system, also known as a pipeless perfluorohexanone fire suppression system, features compact extinguishing-agent storage cylinders housed within an aesthetically designed cabinet. Under normal conditions, the system remains inside the protected zone; in the event of a fire, it releases the extinguishing agent directly into the protected area without requiring piping.

FAQ
We offer free consultations to help resolve your issues.
What are the differences between Xinlin Fire Protection and other fire‑protection manufacturers in Guangzhou?
The company focuses on the gas‑based fire suppression segment, refraining from offering a full range of fire‑protection equipment. It emphasizes high cost‑effectiveness, flexible small‑batch customization, and rapid delivery times. With its base in Guangzhou, it provides faster after‑sales response. In contrast, large, diversified fire‑protection manufacturers offer a broader product portfolio but at relatively higher prices.
How long is the lead time for the product? Do you offer customization?
Standard products are delivered within 7–10 days, and we offer customized options for dimensions, piping, and other specifications. We can also provide tailored fire protection solutions for different protected areas.
Where is the product suitable for use?
It is primarily used in scenarios where water-based fire suppression is unsuitable, such as data centers, high- and low-voltage switchgear rooms, energy storage stations, archives, cultural relic storage facilities, and precision instrument workshops.
What is Xinlin Fire Department’s service commitment?
1. Provide customers with free, efficient design solutions; 2. Conduct relevant equipment inspections and performance testing; 3. Deliver on time in accordance with contractual requirements; 4. Offer comprehensive, efficient installation and commissioning services; 5. Ensure compliance with the customer’s product quality standards; 6.
