Daily Maintenance of Portable Heptafluoropropane Fire Extinguishers
I. With regard to the maintenance and servicing of portable fire extinguishers, the following aspects should be given careful attention:
1. Fire extinguishers should be stored in a well-ventilated, dry, and clean location to prevent nozzle blockage and corrosion caused by moisture or exposure to chemically corrosive substances.
II. Conduct regular visual inspections; the inspection items are as follows:
(1) Check that the fire extinguisher nozzle is unobstructed; if it is blocked, clear the obstruction promptly.
(2) Check whether the pressure gauge needle of the fire extinguisher is in the green zone. If the needle is in the red zone, it indicates that the pressure in the heptafluoropropane gas cylinder is insufficient, which may impair the normal operation of the extinguisher. Therefore, the cause of the low pressure should be identified, and after repair, the extinguisher should be refilled with heptafluoropropane gas.
(3) Inspect fire extinguishers for rust or damage, and check whether the surface paint has peeled off. Any minor peeling should be promptly repaired, while any obvious corrosion must be sent to a professional maintenance service for inspection.
(4) Once a fire extinguisher has been opened and used, it must be recharged in accordance with the prescribed requirements to ensure it is ready for the next use.
(5) Disassemble the device cover every six months for a comprehensive inspection.
(6) Inspect the anti-corrosion coating of the gas cylinders for any peeling or corrosion. Any minor flaking should be promptly repaired, while obvious corrosion must be sent to a specialized maintenance department for a hydrostatic pressure test.
